LOL at the "big bad Alex" comment! I appreciate you keeping the super 8 faith, alex!
"As for Super8 staying alive--This is due to the fact that S8 has a look all its own. It is like oils or watercolors. It has been taken up in the recent past because of this "look". S8 is dead in many many ways. Look at how hard it is to get a highend Xfer. Or how few labs will deal with it."

Again, just like my row with Roger, Nigel is viewing Super-8 from HIS PERSPECTIVE. What Nigel said probably applies to his situation.
But for me, Super-8 is a vibrant, limitless medium, because of the wonderful features that are found on Super-8 Cameras, so why make sweeping, anti-super-8 statements?
LOL, perhaps it's better I'm banned from Brantley's forum, otherwise big bad Alex would be "attacking" someone for making derogatory, inaccurate Super-8 comments on a Super-8 forum.

umm...alex, do you have trouble understanding english? Re-read the statement from Nigel.....
In general his opinions are PRO super 8!
" This is due to the fact that S8 has a look all its own. It is like oils or watercolors."
The so called "anti super 8 statement".....
"Look at how hard it is to get a highend Xfer. Or how few labs will deal with it."
.....this is true, super 8 could be used much more, especially on televison...but very few labs do deal with super 8, only two places process K40.
A lot of telecine labs are not geared up for super 8. This is FACT not a "sweeeping anti super 8 statement"
Alex you also said "Super-8 is a vibrant, limitless medium, because of the wonderful features that are found on Super-8 Cameras"
..well no-one disagrees with you on this, even Nigel...
<font size="2.0" face="verdana, sans-serif">Without the "S8 is dead in many, many ways", I would agree with your assessment. Perhaps a more accurate statement would have been, "It's risky to use Super-8 on professional shoots because lab support is not as extensive as in 16mm and 35mm." Plus, Nigel does not like Pro-8mm, and has stated so publicly, without mincing words, on many occasions. So right off the bat he's coming from a different viewpoint than other professionals.Originally posted by Nigel:
